Sandy Reilly, violist

Sandy Reilly is a violist from Edinburgh who studies with Duncan Ferguson at St Mary's Music School. He is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, having previously performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and NYOS Camerata. Recent performance highlights include appearances at the Young Euro Classic in Berlin and the Lammermuir Festival, where he performed alongside violinist Elena Urioste.

Sandy has received numerous awards at the Edinburgh Competition Festival, including the Joan Dickson Medal, the Waddell Medal, and the Gray Medal. He was a Concerto Class finalist in 2026 and received highly commended awards in the 15-Minute Recital Competition in both 2025 and 2026.

At St Mary's Music School, Sandy won the Calvert String Prize, the Junior Recital Prize and was highly commended for the Intermediate Recital Prize. He is a longstanding member of the school's Senior Quartet, winners of the 2026 Leonard Friedman Chamber Music Prize.

Sandy has participated in masterclasses with distinguished violists including Lawrence Power, Sarah-Jane Bradley, and Scott Dickinson.
